Residency

Come not only to visit Mosaic, but to help shape what it can become.

An invitation to live, work and shape Mosaic alongside us, a long-term co-living and land-stewardship initiative in South Portugal.

We're excited to announce that, for the first time, we're opening the doors of Mosaic for a summer residency period. From the beginning of June until the end of August, we invite people to join us for a season of co-creation, relational practices, practical contribution, community building, and a shared curiosity and openness for what wants to emerge through us. While the residency spans the full summer, shorter stays are also possible.

The deeper intention is not simply to host visitors. We're warmly inviting people with whom we feel the potential for a genuine mutual resonance and who are interested in exploring a deeper, long-term involvement in the project. We see this residency as a process of mutual exploration: a chance for us to connect more deeply and discover whether there is enough excitement to continue the journey together beyond the summer.

For some, this may become a transformative and empowering summer. For others, it may become the beginning of a much larger journey; to help reimagine and rebuild the foundations of how we live together.

01, Resonance

Who we're looking for.

The people we tend to resonate with are usually already in movement.

Not people daydreaming about another life from inside an office tower, but people who have already stepped into experimentation. People who have spent the last years exploring different places, communities, projects, relationships, ways of working, and ways of being alive.

Many already know that their future is somehow connected to land, collaboration, stewardship, and building meaningful things with other humans.

Most have already found ways to support themselves financially, developing their own projects, businesses, research, art, practices, or strange little missions that make complete sense to them and are difficult to explain at family dinners.

We are especially drawn to people who are capable of both autonomy and participation. People who are not afraid of responsibility, commitment, leadership, feedback, complexity, or the occasional emotionally charged governance meeting before lunch.

If you secretly enjoy well-structured management tools, collective processes, operational clarity, flexibility in dealing with chaos and order, gamified leadership, a landscape that is paradise, turning vague visions into functioning reality; you will find companions here.

Sharing a meal together around the table at Mosaic

How they tend to show up

  • Building projects, businesses, art, research, or strange little missions
  • Comfortable with uncertainty and complexity
  • Capable of both autonomy and participation
  • Not afraid of responsibility, commitment, or feedback
  • Grounded, self-aware, and emotionally mature
  • Curious about their own patterns
  • Drawn to deep relationship, collaboration, and collective creation
  • Financially self-sufficient

Especially excited to meet

  • People who want to help shape the residency itself
  • Experienced facilitators and organisers
  • Grounded entrepreneurs and builders
  • Humans who enjoy creating things together
  • People who love making chaos navigable
  • Excellent cooks

"Mostly, we are looking for people with heart, humour, maturity, initiative, and enough self-awareness to know that building a new culture probably also means continuously rebuilding oneself along the way."

02, Next steps

Interested in joining us this summer?

The residency begins with a process of mutual exploration. We're curious to get to know who you are, what calls you here, what gifts and capacities you bring, and whether there is a genuine potential for a shared path between you and Mosaic.

  1. 01

    Fill out the form

Tell us about yourself, your background, and why you feel drawn to Mosaic.

  2. 02

    Join an intro call

We meet, ask questions, and explore fit together.

  3. 03

    Mutual decision

If there is resonance, we agree on dates, contribution, accommodation, and next steps.

03, Practical information

The concrete details.

Where you sleep, what it costs, how to get here, and what daily life on the land actually involves.

Duration
The residency spans from the beginning of June until the end of August, but shorter stays are also possible. Our minimum stay is one month, as we have found that it takes time to settle into the rhythm of life here, build relationships, and meaningfully participate in the project.
Financial Contribution
Monthly contributions currently range from €500 to €1000, depending on accommodation. The lower end covers shared-house rooms or caravans; the higher end is for private units with their own kitchen and bathroom. Costs are lower for shared spaces, and significantly lower if you bring your own accommodation (tent, caravan, van).
Accommodation
Possible accommodation options include camping, caravans, shared rooms, and private rooms, depending on availability. You're also welcome to arrive in your own tent, van, caravan, or spaceship. As with many things at Mosaic, the options are evolving.
Remote Work
Many residents are entrepreneurs, freelancers, facilitators, researchers, creatives, and remote workers running their own projects. We simply ask that your work can coexist with your participation in community life; Mosaic is not a holiday destination or a co-working retreat, but a living project that depends on the presence of those who are here.
Transport
We strongly recommend having access to your own transport. Mosaic is in a rural area with very limited public transportation; while occasional ride-sharing is possible, daily life becomes significantly easier with a car, van, or other reliable means of transport.
Internet
Wi-Fi is available in the two main buildings. Depending on where you are staying, access may be less convenient or unavailable directly in your accommodation.
Language
English is currently the primary language used for communication, meetings, and shared activities. At the same time, we are living in Portugal and would love to see Portuguese become increasingly woven into the culture of the project over time.
