Onboard

Welcome on board

We welcome you to explore the land, the people and the purpose of Mosaic. Coming as an explorer asks nothing of you. You are not expected to join our rhythm, take on work, or contribute anything at all.

And if you would like to take part, you are very welcome: join a meal, lend a hand, sit in on a gathering. It is an open door, never an expectation.

Here you will find what we ask of you, and what we are able to offer.

Mosaic village landscape

Right now

Until March 2027, Mosaic is welcoming people for the long term only.

Short stays and visits are paused while we lay the foundations. The exception is our single events, which are open to everyone and published here as they are announced.

Before you come

What you may be stepping into.

Rather than a perfect experience, we hope to offer an honest one. If you leave with a deeper appreciation of what it actually takes to build trust, regenerate land, and create a village together, your visit has already been worthwhile.

  • An unrehearsed life

Nothing is staged for visitors. You get the Tuesday, not the brochure.

  • Warm, curious humans

They will ask what you are working on, and actually listen. Curiosity is the local currency.

  • Deep conversations

Why do we do it this way? Asked over breakfast, still going at the second pot of tea.

  • Shared meals, spontaneous dinners

A knock, a pot, six people. Someone always cooked too much.

  • Space to create and connect

Bring the half-finished thing. Long tables, longer conversations.

  • Radical honesty

Said with care. Heard with a breath or two.

  • Spicy topics

Sex-positive and frank. Open, monogamous, still figuring it out: all at the same table.

  • Support systems

Say you're struggling and something quietly organises itself around you.

  • Many languages, many cultures

Breakfast in three, dinner in five. Your way of doing things is one of several.

  • Spontaneity

Plans are more of a suggestion. A good afternoon usually is not planned.

  • Afternoons by the ocean

When the talk gets heavy, the sea is close. Salt water resets most things.

  • Vulnerability hangovers

Common after a good evening. Water, a walk, and the lake help.

  • Solid-ish infrastructure

Real houses, real kitchens, wifi, a lake to swim in. Some walls still in progress.

  • A culture in becoming

Built, not inherited. Constructive feedback welcome.

Mosaic Seasons

A residency here is shaped by the season you arrive in. Each one asks for something different and offers something different: the work on the land, the number of people around the table, and the rhythm of the week all shift with it. Choose a season to see what a stay in it actually looks like.

Autumn

23 September – 20 December

The first rain turns the hills green within weeks.

Days in the low twenties, cool nights, the body ready to work. Expect planting: trees, seeds, the infrastructure that has to be in before the cold: and, around it, the quieter work of integrating the year and planting visions for the next one. Stays of one to three months; we especially welcome those who mean to stay through the winter.

Wednesday

Relational practice · 15:00–17:00

For anyone staying longer than two weeks. Two hours of the relational work the project is actually built on: held weekly, and worth arriving for.

These are the spaces in Mosaic

Mosaic is not a village yet, and it is not a luxury retreat centre. Think of it as a land-based laboratory and atelier: beautiful and harmonious in its own rustic way, comfortable, and still very much in the making. What we offer is not a hotel and not a service. The spaces are homes. You are warmly invited to feel at home in them, and to treat them as one.

This is how you can come and visit us

You are welcome for a short visit, and many people start that way. But from what we have seen, a few days rarely gets past the surface. To really meet the land and the people here, we suggest at least two weeks. After eleven years of doing this, we have come to think a month is the honest measure: long enough to arrive properly, to build real connection, and to rest, land and be nourished rather than only look around.

  1. 01

    Step 1 of 4

    Get in touch

Write to us with a short introduction: who you are, when you'd like to come, and how long you're thinking of staying. No formal application, just enough for us to prepare a space and a warm welcome.

  2. 02

    Step 2 of 4

    A brief conversation

We'll set up a short call or exchange to answer your questions, share practical details, and make sure we're a good fit for each other at this moment in time.

  3. 03

    Step 3 of 4

Choose your space and settle in

Once we've found the right dates, you book your accommodation, receive everything you need to arrive, and begin settling into the rhythm of the village.

  4. 04

    Step 4 of 4

    Find your footing

Your person of reference helps you orient in the first days: where things are, how the week flows, and who to talk to. After that, the place speaks for itself.
